Karachi, Aug. 2026 - Pakistan Petroleum Limited's Dolphin X-1 gas discovery in the Sirani Block, Sindh, has drawn front-page coverage across Dawn, Express, The News, Nawaiwaqt, and The Nation.
The project was delivered entirely by local companies. AMCORP, in joint venture with Bahria Foundation, led the civil and logistics works in one of the most demanding transition zones in onshore Pakistan, where land meets tidal water and conventional road access is limited. The scope included access jetties, a bridge, and barge-supported operations to move heavy equipment and materials to the well location. Mobilisation in these conditions required close coordination between site teams, marine logistics, and security personnel throughout execution, with work scheduled around tides and weather.
The joint venture continues to service ongoing drilling operations at the Dolphin X-1 site today.
AMCORP Chief Executive Officer Mr. Arif Kazmi reflected on what the project meant for the company and its partners in Sindh:

The project demonstrates that complex upstream energy work in Pakistan's transition zones can be delivered through domestic engineering and logistics capability, without reliance on foreign contractors for field execution in remote locations.
AMCORP extends its appreciation to Pakistan Petroleum Limited for its trust and to Bahria Foundation for its marine logistics expertise, which proved essential to safe delivery in tidal terrain.
The Dolphin X-1 discovery adds to AMCORP's record in exploration works across Sindh, following earlier well site, access road, and flowline projects for international operators. The company remains committed to supporting Pakistan's energy sector through safe, locally led execution in its most remote and technically challenging locations, and looks forward to continuing its work with PPL on future projects.
