Ship Lifting Transfer System (SLTS) at KS&EW

Executed an EPC contract for Ship Repair Stations, including complex civil, electromechanical, and utility works for a state-of-the-art Ship Lifting Transfer System.

Overview

AMCORP executed this project as a comprehensive EPC contract for the Ship Lifting Transfer System (SLTS) at Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW). This specialised project was completed entirely on a Design-Build Basis, showcasing AMCORP's capability to manage the process from design through commissioning.

The scope required constructing various substations, rooms, trenches, and robust civil foundations. It further demonstrated AMCORP's capability to deliver complex, specialised systems and comprehensive utility networks, including advanced electrical and gas systems.

Executing a Complex EPC Contract

This project was executed as a full EPC contract (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction). The scope was highly specialised and comprehensive, covering the civil, electromechanical, and utility works necessary for the Ship Repair Stations. This Design-Build Basis approach required AMCORP to manage the entire process from conceptual design through to commissioning and installation of the Ship lift and Transfer system.

The complexity stemmed from the integration of diverse systems within a busy port environment. This execution capability highlighted AMCORP's ability to handle multi-disciplinary contracts that demand high precision and integration across multiple engineering fields.

Integrated MEP and Utility Systems

A major component of the contract involved the installation of comprehensive utility networks. This included the construction of substations and the complete power supply network. Furthermore, AMCORP installed the entire utility infrastructure for various gases and fluids, including natural gas, firewater, compressed air, and electrical systems.

Beyond basic utilities, AMCORP delivered specialised mechanical and electrical provisions:

  • Installed a complete sanitary drainage network with UPVC piping and external sewerage.
  • Executed comprehensive MEP systems, including HVAC, fire alarm, CCTV, telecom, and LAN.
  • Provided machine foundations, firefighting systems, and water supply systems.

Civil Foundations and Specialised Structures

The civil works provided the essential foundation for the heavy mechanical and electrical systems. This scope included dismantling works and the installation of piling for gas stations, rooms, and trenches. Finishing work involved a 50mm screed flooring to ensure a robust civil foundation.

AMCORP was also responsible for the supply, fabrication, and erection of specialised structures, including crane rails for the SSRF & SPPP sheds, and extendable electrical doors. This work showcased AMCORP's ability to deliver high-quality civil foundations essential for specialised industrial operations.
