AMCORP undertook this project on a Design & Built basis for SECMC, focusing on the construction of a state-of-the-art Coal Storage Silo for the Coal Handling System. The demanding construction successfully employed the advanced Slip Forming Technique, ensuring precision for the massive structure.
The contract involved installing the complete system for coal handling and transport. Executed in a joint venture with GASCO Engineering, this critically leveraged AMCORP's extensive experience gained within the challenging oil and gas sector.

The core structure of the project was the construction of the Coal Storage Silo itself, utilising the specialised Slip Forming Technique. This advanced construction method demands absolute precision and continuous operation, reflecting AMCORP's capability to execute complex and non-conventional structural works.
The project successfully delivered 468 precast elements. These elements were transported and then efficiently erected under day/night double-shift operations to ensure timely completion. This strategic combination of slip forming and precast installation demonstrated highly advanced construction and logistics management, ensuring quality control and adherence to a strict schedule.
Beyond the civil structure, the scope required the installation of the complete system for coal handling and transport. This comprehensive mechanical and electrical integration included specialised equipment necessary for the silo's efficient operation.
Key systems installed covered mechanical components like the hoist crane, hydraulic chute, and coal belt conveyor. Environmental and safety provisions were also included, such as a bag filter, silicone and silo section air cannons, and a silo top dust filter. The detailed execution ensured operational reliability and safety.
The SECMC Design & Built project was executed in a Joint Venture with GASCO Engineering. This strategic collaboration allowed AMCORP to effectively leverage its existing and extensive experience gained within the demanding oil and gas sector.
The successful delivery of the coal silo contributed significantly to AMCORP's portfolio in the minerals sector (Exploration Works). This strategic project affirmed the company's ability to apply advanced construction methods, such as precast technology, to critical infrastructure for the energy and mining industries. It showcased AMCORP's capacity for complex, end-to-end execution.
